The Northwest Indiana Regional Development Authority, a quasi-governmental agency, was an initial funder of airport, commuter rail, lakefront and transit redevelopment in Lake and Porter Counties by working with all levels of government and sectors. This agency became a model instituted across the State of Indiana.

Public-private partnership between the Redevelopment Commission & Holladay Properties to develop the Westport 32 acre site into a mixed use center for residents, visitors, businesses and municipal services.
TOWN OF BURNS HARBOR, IN
The Redevelopment Commission, in partnership with the Indiana Dunes National Park, State of Indiana and ArcelorMittal, is developing 3 miles of the state-priority, regional trail system. This critical section links the Eastern & Western sections of the National Park and serves as a key amenity of the Westport PUD.
KANKAKEE VALLEY HISTORICAL SOCIETY
Nonprofit effort to preserve the Collier Lodge site, a national historic landmark for 11,000 years of archaeology. This multi-phase project involves deconstruction, archaeological dig and reconstruction. Additionally, the Society is planning for future development and programming so a wider audience can experience the Kankakee River Valley and Great Marsh.
TOWN OF HIGHLAND, IN
The Redevelopment Commission, in partnership with Legacy Foundation, is redeveloping the southwest corner of Highland & Kennedy Avenues as a multi-modal center complete with an Erie Lakawanna trailhead, EV charging stations, rain gardens and public sculpture.
